About Us
After graduating with a degree in Business from Carson-Newman College, Knoxville native Chris McKenry began his career at McKenry Produce, his family’s poultry company founded by his grandfather in 1897. Through the years, he learned that the secret to running a successful business is to provide a quality product while treating clients with respect and care.
In 2000, Chris moved to Los Angeles and became a professional organizer, helping clients tackle their clutter and create systems to simplify their lives. He soon noticed that the closets he was organizing didn’t contain enough space for his clients’ things, and began custom-designing their storage. Fifteen years and many awards and accolades later, Chris returned home to Knoxville and founded Closets by McKenry.
Closets by McKenry expanded in 2019 to include a showroom in West Knoxville, and Chris grew his talented team of design and installation experts. A year later, responding to the growing need for organization in the garage sector, Chris opened Designer Garages to provide budget-friendly, quality components with a designer’s touch. “Our showroom allows you to imagine the possibilities for your garage,” said Chris. “We know the impact disorganization can have on your daily life. Our goal is to bring order and elegance to your organizational needs – even in the garage.”
